- Read — DOCX, ODT, XLSX and ODS to structured Markdown, a plain-text format that AI models read and write natively (headings, lists, tables, links kept); PPTX, ODP and tagged PDF to text with its hierarchy.

Strengths
- A tool your AI calls by itself. As an MCP server, with no third-party dependency, AWA Convert becomes a tool your AI calls on demand: it reads and writes compact Markdown, without handling XML, page images or document-building code.
- Traceable. Every Markdown output carries the SHA-256 fingerprint of its source file and a heading-anchor index for chunking. Every loss the conversion detects is recorded in a loss ledger, returned with every conversion and written into the header of every Markdown output; the known undetected cases are documented.
- Reproducible. With the same conversion date, the same document gives exactly the same Markdown, byte for byte.
- Nothing leaves your walls. A JavaScript library with no third-party dependency, air-gap compatible. Conversion runs locally.
Three ways to use it: as a library, from the command line on Node.js, Bun or Deno, or as an MCP server (on Bun) — a standard connector that lets an AI assistant call a tool directly.

- Scanned PDFs are out of scope: AWA Convert does not read text from images (no OCR).
- Untagged PDFs: text is read in the order the file draws it, then grouped into paragraphs by position; on a complex layout (columns, boxes), the reading order may not be respected.
- Coming: spreadsheet-to-spreadsheet and slide-to-slide conversions.
Licence and pricing
€8,900 excl. VAT per application per year, unlimited developers, servers and users. Free under AGPL-3.0-only if your application complies with it. Shipping AWA Convert to your users' browsers or inside software you distribute? The AGPL then puts source-code obligations on you; the commercial licence exempts you from them.
Calling our PDF, Office or Markdown libraries directly? AWA Convert includes them: no other licence is needed.
