AWA PDF reads and writes PDF 2.0 (ISO 32000-2) and reads legacy PDF 1.7, in the browser, in a worker or on your server. The document never leaves the machine, and there is no rendering server or service to run.

Features
- Produce: pages, text and images; TrueType fonts (and OpenType fonts with TrueType outlines) embedded as subsets; AcroForm forms, embedded files and XMP metadata read, kept and written back.
- Protect: AES-256 encryption.
- Sign: PAdES signatures — the European standard for signing PDF documents, recognised under eIDAS — produced in the browser (RSA-PSS, ECDSA, Ed25519), from level B-B up to B-LTA when your integration supplies the timestamp and revocation material; the library makes no network call. If your signatures must be validated by Adobe Acrobat, use ECDSA: Acrobat does not validate EdDSA (Ed25519) signatures, which other tools, such as OpenSSL, verify. Signature in detail.
- Check: PDF/A profile detection, PDF/X checks, a first level of automated PDF/UA-1 and Well-Tagged PDF accessibility checks — PDF/A and PDF/UA being the archiving and the accessibility profiles of PDF — to catch defects before publication, in your CI (your automated build and test pipeline) rather than by hand.

- AWA PDF focuses on producing, protecting, signing and checking your documents. On-screen display remains the job of your viewer, and reading scanned PDFs that of an OCR tool.
- PDF/A and PDF/UA checks catch deviations before publication; the declaration of conformity remains yours.
- Signature verification confirms that the signed bytes have not been modified and that the signature matches the signer's key. Certificate-chain validation, revocation checking and qualified status are the job of your trust service provider.
Licence and pricing
€4,900 excl. VAT per application per year, unlimited developers, servers and users; the documents you produce are yours, royalty-free. Free under AGPL-3.0-only if your application complies with it. Shipping AWA PDF to your users' browsers or inside software you distribute? The AGPL then puts source-code obligations on you; the commercial licence exempts you from them.
Does your code also call our Office, Markdown or conversion libraries? You need the offer that contains them, or AWA Convert (€8,900 excl. VAT), which includes them all, AWA PDF included.
